A native of Kalamazoo Michigan, Vello Virkhaus has found success through numerous creative endeavors and left his mark on the entertainment business world wide. Most notably, Virkhaus and collaborators are the masterminds behind some of the most successful immersive concert visuals and 3D projection mapped experiences of the decade, including Amon Tobin’s ISAM, Blizzcon Starcraft 2, The Skrillex Cell, The Krewella Volcano, Infected Mushroom Fungus Among Us, The Datsik Vortex and many more.
In 2002 Virkhaus founded V Squared Labs, offering clients premium visual artistry experiences in a boutique environment. The mission of the company is to push the boundaries of visual art through experimentation and passion for ever more immersive and real time worlds. In 2017 V Squared Labs has continued its growth and partnered with Tandem Digital to expand client service offerings through its principal Greg Russell’s animation and creative direction skills.
Under the leadership of Russell and Virkhaus, V Squared Labs and Tandem have continuously executed next level experiential visual artistry for their clients. Throughout the years V Squared Labs has managed to stay on the cutting edge by developing their own proprietary VJ software which integrates real-time computer graphics into unique visual performance constructs. From their touch designer media server designs to their 3D mapped scenic sculptures, V Squared Labs is always taking “never been done” concepts and turning them into reality. This process always starts with the blank page, and working with clients to define the words, scenery, illumination, content, interactivity, and the means to deliver it all. Virkhaus has had the opportunity to do this with some of the most creative artists, brands, musicians, and media conglomerates on Earth.
